Traffic warnings in the district of Culpeper: Week of 3-7. January

The following motorway work is planned in the Culpeper District over the next two weeks, weather permitting. Traffic movements can be restricted and speed limits reduced in work areas. (NEW) or (TO UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

The VDOT has suspended most of the motorway work zones for several days during the New Year holidays. The lane closures on motorways and other major routes were lifted from Thursday, December 30th, noon, to Monday, January 3rd, noon.

Albemarle County

(TO UPDATE) Albemarle Design-Build Projects – Look out for construction activities in the following areas:

  • P. 250 (Richmond Road) off Interstate 64. Construction of a divergent diamond cross. Speed ​​limit reduced to 25 mph. Expect single-lane closures Monday through Friday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Be careful when driving through the work area and watch out for construction vehicles entering and leaving the work area.
  • Route 20 (Stony Point Road) at Route 649 (Proffit Road). Construction of a roundabout. From Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., expect the traffic lane to be temporarily closed by Flaggers. Speed ​​limit reduced to 25 mph.
  • P. 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) on Route 151 (Critzer Shop Road). Construction of a roundabout. From Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., expect a single lane closure with traffic controlled by flags. Speed ​​limit reduced to 25 mph. Watch for equipment and workers near the lanes and follow signs around the work area.

(NEW) US 29 (Monacan Trail) – DMV-approved superload traveling from Interstate 64 South to Danville. On Tuesday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., be aware of a vehicle carrying a 16 foot wide load. Be careful around the superload and escort vehicles.

(TO UPDATE) US 29/250 Bypass – VDOT approval from US 29 Business (Emmet Street) to Hydraulic Road. Expect a mobile work zone with a close shoulder to the north from Monday to Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

(TO UPDATE) US 29 (Monacan Trail) – Tree pruning between Route 632 (Faber Road) and Route 692 (Plank Road). Mobile blocking of the left lane and hard shoulder, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Route 240 (Crozet Avenue) – Replacement of the bridge superstructure. Traffic will be reduced to one lane by mid-July 2022, controlled by a temporary signal between Route 1231 (Davis Drive) and Route 691 (Tabor Street). Expect traffic jams and delays during rush hour.

(NEW) Route 678 (Owensville Road) – Installation of a new historical marker. Closure of the right north hard shoulder on Route 1607 (Neves Lane), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

(NEW) Route 689 (Burchs Mill Road) – Emergency repairs to the bridge over Stockton Creek. Traffic should be diverted around the bridge from US 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) to Route 824 (Patterson Mill Lane) to Route 688 (Midway Road) and back to Route 689. The bridge should be open to traffic by Friday, January 7th.

Culpeper County

(TO UPDATE) US 15 (James Madison Highway) – VDOT approval service between Route 692 (Old Orange Road) and Route 691 (Carver School Road). Expect changing direction and hard shoulder closures on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

County of Fauquier

(TO UPDATE) US 29 Eastern Bypass / Lee Highway – supply works under VDOT approval. Mobile work zone with closure of the right shoulder north from Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Drive) to the Prince William County Line, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday

US 17 (Marsh Road) – Replace the bridge to the south via the railroad and Route 805 (Bealeton Road). One lane to the south is closed. The lane closure will remain in place for most of the project. Expected completion December 2022.

US 17 (Winchester Road) – New traffic pattern in effect at Interstate 66 interchange south of the city of Marshall. Traffic on Route 17 southbound stops at the intersection for Route 17 northbound traffic turning onto I-66 West. Be careful as the traffic adapts to the new pattern.

(TO UPDATE) US 17 (Marsh Road) – construction of turning lanes. Expect workers on the right shoulder south near Route 837 (Bowers Run Road) Monday through Friday, 7am to 6pm

(TO UPDATE) US 29 (Lee Highway) – VDOT approved utility works from Route 674 (Grays Mill Road) to Route 676 (Riley Road). Mobile work zone in northern direction with right shoulder to shoulder, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

(TO UPDATE) US 17 Business (Rectortown Road) – Alternating lane closures during concrete work in the town of Marshall between Route 1003 (Frost Street) and US 17 Business (West Main Street). Alternating road closures from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with traffic through flagpoles.

Route 805 (Bealeton Road) – road under bridge US 17 (Marsh Road) during. reduced to a trace Bridge replacement project. The traffic is controlled by temporary traffic lights.

(TO UPDATE) Route 806 (Elk Run Road) – Utility works under VDOT approval from Route 667 (Old Dumfries Road) to Route 607 (Shenandoah Path). Expect changing lane closures from Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Greene County

(NEW) US 29 (Seminole Trail) – Tree pruning near Route 609 (Fredericksburg Road). Alternating lane and hard shoulder closures to the north and south, Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Watch out for equipment and workers near the open lane.

Louisa County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – tree felling and debris removal. Mobile work zone with east and west facing right hard shoulder between mile marker 148 and mile marker 131, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

(TO UPDATE) Route 522 (Cross County Road) – Construction of a roundabout on US 250 (Broad Street Road) near the Goochland County Line. Expect flagging operations Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Madison County

(TO UPDATE) US 29 (South Seminole Trail) – VDOT-approved utility work from Route 230 (Wolftown-Hood Road) to Route 621 (Seville Road). Mobile work zone to the south with right shoulder to shoulder. Watch out for workers and equipment near the lanes, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orange County

Route 20 (Constitution Highway) – culvert installation between Route 671 (Village Road) and Route 628 (Clifton Road). Intermittent road closures with traffic controlled by flags, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Rappahannock County

(NEW) US 231 (FT Valley Road) – Trench cleaning work from Route 608 (Ashby Road) to the Madison County Line. Road closure to the south with flag-controlled traffic, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) US 522 (Sperryville Pike) – Shoulder repairs between Route 655 (Short Road) and the Culpeper County Line. Alternating lane closures with flag traffic, Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
