Ferrovial – Budimex has the PKN Orlen R&D Center in P? Ock? completed

Seven hundred cubic meters of concrete, 180 kilometers of cable, 750 tons of reinforcing steel and 22 kilometers of pipes. Budimex finished his job and delivered the Research and Development Center to the investor PKN ORLEN. The net order value is approx. PLN 167 million.

The contract with the investor has been signed April 2019. The investment was made according to the EPC formula (Engineering, Purchase, Construction). Budimex’s The task outside the project also consisted of constructing and equipping the turnkey buildings of the center, putting into operation the supplied equipment, including the measuring devices, and the laboratory. The work of the center in P? Ock consists in developing the refining and petrochemical industries, implementing new technical solutions and working on new technologies and products. In addition, existing processes are improved and optimized.

In accordance with the expectations of the investor and its functions, the building complex that is part of the center had to adapt to the specifics of research in the refinery and petrochemical industry and meet the highest structural requirements. As an experienced general contractor Budimex meets all expectations of a timely, technological investor. The size of the project is evidenced by the huge amounts of materials used to build the facility – 750 tons of steel, or 3 times the total weight of the Statue of Liberty – according to Artur Popko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Budimeksu.

The investment consists of eight facilities. The complex of office and industrial buildings with research and storage functions includes a technical building with a laboratory, research and test facilities with a pilot and mapping room on an area of ​​almost 2000 m2, as well as a building for a warehouse for testing and raw materials. As part of the investment, an external storage facility with a system for processing fuel mixtures and an office building were created in which the administrative facilities of the entire complex and all the necessary technical infrastructure are located. The construction work of Budimex also included the implementation of the infrastructure accompanying the building: internal roads, parking lots and maneuvering facilities. CBR covers an area of ​​43,000 m2. The free field area enables future expansion of the system.

The center is supplied with environmentally friendly electricity. The property is equipped with modern self-cleaning photovoltaic modules and a shed (94 kWp in total) as well as a wind turbine that produces green electricity with 2800 W of power. There is also an electric vehicle charging station, says Artur Popko, CEO of Budimex. “As part of the work, an educational trail was also created on which we can find interactive facilities. Among these we will discover the importance of fuels and chemistry in our lives and directions for the development of this significant area of ​​life, information walls or panels and even a spatial periodic table of the elements. Artur Popko adds.

The high-tech surface enables the flexible installation of test stands up to 15 meters high. The complex also includes a high and low temperature climatic chamber, an engine test bench and high-tech systems in the so-called media generation belt, including two cooling towers, a boiler room for containers and a compressor, a nitrogen tank and water treatment stations.
